The municipal utility
The City of Blountstown owns and runs electric, natural gas, water, sewer and sanitation through its Public Works department. For your business, that's one provider and one point of contact, and the city itself makes the decisions on rates and capacity.
The city has been a member of the Florida Municipal Power Agency since 2006 and serves about 1,300 electric customers.
Natural gas
The city supplies natural gas inside Blountstown. For manufacturers, having natural gas available can decide a site, and it often isn't available in rural counties.
Outside the city limits
West Florida Electric Cooperative, based in Graceville and operating since 1937, and Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative serve the rest of the county, including Altha, Clarksville and Chason.
Fiber across the rural county.
Two Florida Broadband Opportunity Program awards are paying for new fiber outside Blountstown.
