Privacy Policy.

Last updated August 24, 2026.

This policy covers investcalhoun.org, the economic development website for Calhoun County, Florida, operated by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce. It explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it.

We have tried to write it in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask us — the contact details are at the bottom.

The short version

We do not sell your information. We do not run advertising and we do not share anything with advertisers or data brokers. The only personal information we collect is what you type into our contact form, plus standard, mostly anonymous website analytics. We use it to answer you and to understand which parts of the site are useful.

Information you give us

Our contact form asks for the following. Name and email are required; the rest are optional and the form works without them.

  • Your name
  • Your company
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • What you are exploring — site selection, relocation, expansion, a property inquiry, or a general question
  • Your timeline
  • Whatever you write in the message field

You may also reach us by phone or by emailing us directly, in which case we hold whatever you choose to tell us.

Please do not send confidential, proprietary, or trade-secret information through the contact form or by unencrypted email. Early-stage site selection is often sensitive, and a web form is not a secure channel. Call us and we will find a better one.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this one records some technical information about visits. Three systems are involved:

  • Google Analytics 4 — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referring site, device and browser type, and how long a visit lasts. Google's tag sets cookies in your browser. IP addresses are anonymized by Google before they are stored, and we do not enable advertising features, cross-device tracking, or Google Signals.
  • Vercel Analytics — page views and basic performance measurements. It sets no cookies and creates no cross-site identifier.
  • Server logs — our host, Vercel, records requests to the site, including IP address and user agent, as part of normal operation and security.

None of this tells us who you are as an individual. We cannot connect an analytics session to a name unless you also submit the contact form, and we do not attempt to.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_G-588WQ22994. They distinguish one visitor from another so that ten page views by one person are not counted as ten people. The _ga cookie lasts up to two years.

Nothing else on this site sets a cookie. We use no advertising, retargeting, or social media tracking cookies of any kind.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google publishes a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely. The site works normally either way — nothing here depends on cookies to function.

Fonts and third-party assets

The typeface used on this site is downloaded and served from our own servers rather than fetched from Google when you visit. Loading a page here does not send your IP address to a font host. We mention it because font loading is a common and invisible way that sites leak visitor data, and this one does not.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of service providers. Each one is bound by its own agreement with us and none of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

  • Formspree — delivers contact form submissions to our inbox and retains a copy in our account. Your form data passes through and is stored on Formspree's servers.
  • Google — provides Google Analytics 4 and processes the usage data described above.
  • Vercel — hosts the site and provides cookieless analytics.
  • Our email provider — receives and stores the inquiry once it reaches us.

We share inquiries with our economic development partners — the Calhoun County Board of County Commissioners, the City of Blountstown, the Calhoun County Industrial Development Authority, and state and regional agencies such as FloridaCommerce and Opportunity Florida — only when doing so is necessary to answer your question, and only to the extent needed. A property inquiry may need to reach the owner or the listing agent. If you would rather we not pass something along, say so in your message and we will not.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, such as in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful government request.

Confidentiality and public records

The Chamber is a private nonprofit organization, not a government agency, so Florida's public records law does not apply to what sits in our inbox.

It does apply once we hand something on. Much of what we do is connecting you to the Board of County Commissioners, the Industrial Development Authority, the City of Blountstown, or a state agency — and a record received by one of those bodies in connection with official business is generally a public record under chapter 119, Florida Statutes, subject to release on request.

Florida law does provide an economic development exemption that can keep a company's expansion or relocation plans confidential for a limited period. It has to be requested, it does not apply automatically, and it does not last forever. So if your project is confidential, tell us before you send us the details. We will explain what can and cannot be protected and handle your inquiry accordingly. Ask first — a record cannot be un-disclosed.

How long we keep it

Contact form submissions stay in our inbox and in our Formspree account as part of our record of who has asked about Calhoun County. Economic development runs on long timelines — a prospect who calls today may site a facility three years from now — so we retain inquiries for as long as they remain useful to that work. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Google Analytics data is retained on Google's default schedule for user-level and event-level records, after which it is deleted. Aggregate reporting — total page views by month, for instance — is not personal information and we keep it indefinitely.

Your choices

Write to us at the address at the bottom of this page and we will:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete your inquiry and your contact details from our systems
  • Stop contacting you

We will do all of that on request, regardless of what state or country you are in and regardless of whether a statute requires it of us. We would rather simply honor the request than argue about whether we have to.

To opt out of analytics, use the Google opt-out add-on or your browser's cookie controls, as described above.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

This site does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals, because there is no agreed standard for what a website should do when it receives one. We mention it because saying nothing is worse than saying so plainly. The analytics described above are the only tracking here, and you can switch them off with the tools listed in the cookies section.

State and international privacy laws

The Florida Digital Bill of Rights applies to businesses above revenue thresholds far larger than ours, and the comprehensive privacy laws in California, Virginia, Colorado and elsewhere have thresholds we do not meet either. Rather than reprint a list of statutory rights that do not technically apply to us, we have described above what we will actually do when you ask. If you believe a specific law does give you a right we have not honored, tell us and we will address it.

This site is operated from the United States and any information you send is stored here. If you are contacting us from outside the United States, please understand that United States privacy law will govern how it is handled.

Children

This site is aimed at business owners, developers, site selectors, and residents. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served entirely over HTTPS, and our service providers maintain their own security programs. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, though, which is why the warning above about confidential information is worth repeating: for anything sensitive, call.

Links to other sites

This site links out to property listings, partner organizations, and state and federal data sources. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.

Changes to this policy

If we change how this site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
